Welcome to Youth Connections for Peace!

Sixteen Young People from the village of Zebabdeh, Palestine, came to Ireland in June 2007, to connect and make friends with sixteen young Irish people from Ballinteer Community School in Dublin.

As well as learning about the culture of the other, through music, film and visits to places of historical and cultural interest, the group who were based at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, engaged in the process of creating, exchanging and exhibiting a scrapbook on their faith and action in their respective communities.

The exciting programme of activities represented a mutually-beneficial opportunity to develop partnerships between young people, and a unique way for Ireland to share its experience of conflict and peace building.

This element of our ongoing project was made possible by the generous grant of Léargas, under the Youth in Action Programme, with additional support forthcoming from aid agencies and other sources.
